Charlie grew up in Portland and was lucky enough to emerge himself into the fast paced, passion fuelled industry of hospitality. Beginning his foodie story, as so many others, Charlie joined the award winning team at the local McCafe. This is where he became totally addicted to coffee. But not in the way you and I might be, but in creating and sharing his caffeinated passion with anyone he could. He knew there and then that coffee would be a major part of his life. Nothing would steal his attention from it… Until…
Sophie and Charlie worked side by side in a local cafe together for four years in their hometown. Both grew more and more obsessed with learning every aspect of the industry and process possible. During this time the hospitality industry was facing more challenges than ever before. Lockdowns, inflation, staffing shortages were all on the menu, but for Charlie and Sophie, their plans were clear. Where others saw challenges, the pair saw opportunity. With a loving and perhaps forceful nudge from Sophie, the couple now had the vision, knowledge, passion, and drive to achieve their common goal. Wonderful coffee for a wonderful community.
On the morning of November 24th 2021, Charlie and Sophie shared their most important cup of coffee of their lives. The first brewed at Twelvefold. And every day since, the couple invites everyone to share their passion for all things coffee, food, and genuine small-town hospitality. As they have learnt through the beginnings of this journey, that when you put in genuine care and love, it comes back Twelvefold.

Charlie: Well, I kind of should say Sophie, but this is a coffee fuelled quiz… I’ll have to go with a Dark City soy latte.
Sophie: My favourite drink at Twelvefold would have to be the Prana Chai. How could someone not love a cup full of spices made with your favourite milk and love.
Charlie: 3 would be my daily average intake, although there have been some winter mornings I have snuck a couple extra daily kickstarts.
Sophie: Coffees zero… Chai… Sometimes more than I should admit to. As much as I live and breathe coffee, and love making coffee, chai will always be my go to.
Charlie: Being part of so many people’s lives. Sharing my passion with the town. It is a great feeling when you give someone a perfect pour and see their face light up.
Sophie: I love the little work family that we are creating. Where people love to come to work each day. A day at work doesn’t feel like a day at work. And of course, the customers, we have made so many friends through our daily interactions with our wonderful community.
Charlie: The beaches! We are all so lucky to live here and be able to be at the beach within minutes, no matter where you are in town. It’s something we should never take for granted.
Sophie: The thing I like the most about living in Portland is how much of a tight community it is. The community is so open to rally around and support local businesses and especially those when they first open. It is this reason as to why we have had such an amazing beginning to our Twelvefold story.
